The call for papers is now closed to new submissions, and any now sent in via the website without the prior agreement of the organisers will not be accepted. If you wish to submit a new paper proposal after this point, please contact the organising group via ‘Contact Us’.
People who have already submitted a paper proposal may if they wish resubmit it, until 31 January 2021. Please go through the same steps to submit a paper, below. A resubmitted paper proposal will automatically replace the existing one by the same author.
Speakers are encouraged to offer poster papers wherever possible and you may resubmit an existing proposal as a poster paper until 31 January 2021.
The review of submissions and issuing of invitations to the 19th Viking Congress will follow after the final closing date for resubmissions of 31 January 2021.
The organising committee is pleased to announce the Congress themes for 2021 and the start of the process of peer-reviewed paper submissions.
Papers are invited which present new discoveries, and/or offer a contribution to scholarly interpretation or debate. Research papers will be 20 minutes plus up to 10 minutes for questions and discussion. Debate papers will be 10 minutes and will form part of a longer debate session chaired by a theme chair. The organising committee reserves the final decision as to which of these sessions your submission will be allotted (they are of equal standing). After the Congress all papers will be eligible for submission to the Congress Proceedings volume, subject to successful peer-review of submitted full manuscripts.
Papers delivered in Prifysgol Bangor / Bangor University may be delivered in English or Welsh (with simultaneous translation into English). Papers delivered in Liverpool University will be in English only.
There will also be opportunities to present poster papers. We will request that poster content is submitted as a digital file in advance so these can be pre-circulated on the Congress website. Posters will be displayed in the Congress venues at Bangor or Liverpool.
For the 19th Congress themes, see Programme.
